Following VE Day, the squadron re-equipped with B-24 Liberators and changed from Bomber Group to Transport Group. There followed many transport operations extending to North Africa and India.

The squadron disbanded on December 31st 1945 and reactivated on August 1st 1946. The Squadron began training on Canadair built North Star aircraft (four Rolls Royce Merlin 620 engines) in November 1947.
